Ean Jones runs XS Promotions from his office in the city centre of Aberdeen. In the last ten years he has established himself throughout the North of Scotland (and latterly throughout many other parts of Scotland) as a leading entertainment agent, particularly regarding private functions and weddings.
His agency became a member full member of the Agents’ Association (est. 1927) back in 1997, being the first agency in the North of Scotland to have achieved this in the Association’s long and distinguished history, and XS Promotions is currently still the only member in the North of Scotland today.
Ok. That’s the formal bit over with!
Seriously though, I’m in the advantageous position of having worked on both sides of the entertainment world, starting my career as a musician and vocalist in the early 80’s, progressing to playing with bigger bands, then band leading, and eventually moving into the booking and organisational side of the business.
I established XS Promotions in Scotland in 1993 as a continuation of an entertainment agency I founded in Spain in 1987 that primarily involved the booking of hit recording stars to venues throughout mainland Spain and the Canaries.
I moved to Aberdeen in 1991, and the local connection began essentially by bringing over some of these same stars to perform in the north east of Scotland. The consequence of promoting these shows was that entertainment venues throughout the North East began to enquire whether I could also supply quality local entertainment in addition to these artists.
As a result of these (welcome) enquiries, over the last few years I have gradually built up a select representation of the best entertainment there is to offer in the north of Scotland, and slowly but surely I’m finding my services also requested throughout the rest of Scotland.
The artists I represent fall into a fairly wide variety of entertainment categories but all have the common denominator of quality, reliability and professionalism. I’m really happy with the people I represent, although of course I’m always looking for new talent to add to the portfolio, providing they fulfil all expectations.
My business principles are simple. I always negotiate a fair deal between the venue and the artist.
I issue agreements that are clear, concise, and adhere to the guidelines of the Agents’ Association.
I issue the same agreements to both venue and artist. What the client signs, the artist also signs.
As the first ever member of the Agents’ Association (GB) to be accepted from the North East of Scotland since its conception in 1927, we always adhere to the rules laid down by this established and respected organisation – the benchmark of professional standards, behaviour and etiquette within our industry.
My simple approach is to keep both my clients and artists happy. I consider myself friendly, approachable, communicative, open-minded and dedicated to provide a quality service to everybody concerned.
Basically, I take pride in my business.
