scottish golfer - presenter - journalist
Alan Tait has been involved in golf virtually all his life, first picking up a club at just five years old before developing into one of Scotland’s leading amateur talents. In 1986 he won both The Scottish Boys Championship and the Doug Sanders European and World Junior Championships, while also representing Scotland and Great Britain & Ireland during an outstanding amateur career.
After studying journalism and golf in Texas on a scholarship at Paris Junior College, Alan turned professional in 1990 and began his PGA apprenticeship at Cawder Golf Club in Glasgow. In 1996 he topped the Scottish Order of Merit before progressing onto the European Tour the following season.
Alan also holds a unique place in Scottish golf history as the first player ever to shoot a 64 at Carnoustie Championship Course — still a joint course record today on one of the toughest courses in world golf. His years competing professionally have provided him with a wealth of entertaining stories from the game’s biggest stages.
Alongside his playing career, Alan has become a respected broadcaster and commentator, co-hosting The Golf Show with Graham Spiers and working for the BBC at both The Open Championship and Scottish Open. Relaxed, humorous and highly personable, Alan Tait is an excellent choice for golf days, sporting dinners and corporate events.
