Anita Manning • After Dinner Speaker
Anita Manning is one of Scotland’s best-known television personalities, antique experts and auctioneers, instantly recognisable from hugely popular BBC programmes including Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip. Warm, witty and enormously engaging, Anita has built a loyal following through her passion for antiques and her natural ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
Long before becoming a familiar face on television, Anita developed her love of antiques visiting auctions with her father in Glasgow. After studying physical education and specialising in dance in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, she worked as a teacher before moving into the antiques trade full time, travelling across Britain and Ireland buying and selling furniture and collectibles.
Together with her daughter Lala, Anita founded Great Western Auctions in Glasgow in 1989, helping establish one of Scotland’s leading auction houses. Widely regarded as one of Scotland’s first female auctioneers, Anita combines tremendous knowledge with a wonderfully down-to-earth and entertaining speaking style, making her a superb guest for corporate events, charity functions and after-dinner occasions.
One of the unique features of an event with Anita Manning is the opportunity for guests to bring along antiques or collectibles for valuation. This interactive element always creates huge interest and excitement, adding something genuinely different to an event as Anita shares stories, insights and expert opinions on the treasures people bring along.
