PAUL LAIDLAW • AFTER DINNER SPEAKER
TV PERSONALITY - ANTIQUES EXPERT - AUCTIONEER
Paul Laidlaw is one of Scotland’s most recognisable auctioneers and antiques experts, widely known for his appearances on BBC favourites “Bargain Hunt”, “Antiques Road Trip”, “Celebrity Antiques Road Trip” and “Flog It!”. Combining deep knowledge of antiques with a warm and engaging personality, Paul has become a familiar and highly respected face with television audiences across the UK.
After developing his career as an auctioneer with H&H Auction Rooms in Carlisle, Paul went on to establish his own successful business, Laidlaw Auctioneers and Valuers. His natural ability in the saleroom, coupled with an infectious enthusiasm for antiques and collectables, quickly earned him a reputation as one of the industry’s leading figures. His television career began after being spotted conducting an auction for the BBC, leading to a regular role on “Bargain Hunt”.
Paul is also known for some remarkable successes on “Antiques Road Trip”, including the programme’s record-breaking profit on a Chambre Automatique De Bertsch sub-miniature camera, bought for just £60 and later selling for £20,000. His sharp eye, fascinating stories and genuine passion for unusual objects make him a hugely entertaining personality both on and off screen.
As an after-dinner speaker, Paul Laidlaw brings humour, insight and plenty of behind-the-scenes tales from the world of antiques and television. A particular highlight of many events is his popular valuation session, where guests can bring along items to be appraised by Paul in person — adding a unique and interactive element that audiences thoroughly enjoy.
