For more than 30 years pianist and bandleader Andy Hodge has been entertaining audiences with his own stylish blend of swing, jazz and sophisticated live background music. A former professional musician with the Royal Marines, Andy travelled extensively around the world performing before establishing himself as one of Scotland’s most respected piano players and musical directors. Warm, personable and full of character, Andy’s relaxed humour and easy rapport with audiences help create exactly the right atmosphere for everything from intimate dinners to prestigious corporate events.

Four In The Bar can perform in a variety of line-ups ranging from an elegant piano and vocal duo right through to a full six-piece band, while larger ‘big band’ style ensembles can also be arranged with advance notice. Whether performing smooth cocktail jazz, laid-back lounge favourites or timeless swing classics, the band specialise in creating a classy, welcoming ambience without ever overpowering the occasion.

Their repertoire draws heavily from the Great American Songbook together with much-loved jazz and swing standards, performed with genuine musicianship and style. Requests are always welcomed where possible, and the band pride themselves on reading the room perfectly — knowing exactly when to provide subtle background sophistication and when to bring a little more energy and interaction to the evening.

Alongside countless private and corporate engagements, Andy has also performed for numerous royal occasions during his distinguished career. For many years he was Head of Piano Studies at Gordonstoun School — famously attended by both Prince Philip and King Charles III — while also holding a long-standing solo residency at the luxurious five-star Skibo Castle, entertaining guests from around the world in one of Scotland’s most exclusive settings.
