OWEN PAUL • 1980s HIT RECORDING ARTIST
Best known for his 1986 smash hit “My Favourite Waste of Time”, Scottish singer Owen Paul has remained a familiar face on the UK live music scene for decades. While the Top 3 hit made him a household name during the golden age of 80s pop, Owen’s career has stretched far beyond that one record, performing and recording alongside some of the biggest names in British music.
A hugely experienced live performer, Owen later toured the UK and Europe as a vocalist with Mike + The Mechanics, performing classic hits including “The Living Years”, “Over My Shoulder” and “All I Need Is A Miracle”. He also became lead vocalist with XSM featuring original Simple Minds members Derek Forbes and Brian McGee, bringing iconic anthems such as “Alive & Kicking”, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” and “Waterfront” back to audiences across Europe and beyond.
Today, Owen Paul delivers a high-energy live show packed with massive 80s favourites, combining chart hits, rock anthems and plenty of stories from his years at the heart of the music industry. As well as his own breakthrough hit “My Favourite Waste of Time”, audiences can enjoy classics including “The Living Years”, “Alive & Kicking”, “Weather With You”, “Everytime You Go Away”, “Is This Love” and many more. Ideal for corporate events, 80s festivals, weddings, private parties and themed nights, Owen brings genuine pop-star pedigree and personality to every performance.
Away from the stage, Owen has also enjoyed success as a producer, songwriter and theatre entrepreneur. He produced a triple-platinum selling album for Japanese rock band Buck-Tick, co-produced the UK Eurovision entry in 2001, ran a successful West End theatre in London’s Leicester Square, and has continued releasing new music in recent years. More than simply a one-hit wonder, Owen Paul remains one of Scotland’s most recognisable and enduring 80s performers.
